News ImageMay 18, 2018  Amazing Kitten Rescue! You never know when you are going to get stuck in a tight situation, but you always mange to somehow get out. Sometimes you are able to get out by yourself and sometimes you need help from others like your family or friends. This doesn’t just apply to humans though; it applies to our furry friends too.

On Tuesday May 15 a small kitten found himself in a tight situation-literally; he was wedged between a cinderblock wall and shed. OC Animal Care Officer Holliday responded to situation along with Anaheim Fire Captain Ryan Lazar, Engineer Brent Hirst and Fire Fighter Dave Loya. To help the kitten, the team was cut access holes in the shed so that the kitten could have more room and so that Officer Holliday cold pull it out.

Thanks to this team of heroes, the kitten was saved and brought to OC Animal Care. Thank you to Officer Holliday and to Anaheim Fire for helping to save the kitten from a tight situation. We have all been there and it is always amazing to have someone there to help you out like they did with the kitten.

News ImageMay 2, 2018  62 Adoptions During Spring Fling!Spring Fling was the first free adoption event at the new OC Animal Care facility in Tustin. On April 28, 2018 people lined up outside the doors waiting to be let in at 11:00 am to start adopting their new best friend!

Doors were open from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm for people to have meet and greets and adopt any of the available animals. Banners and balloons decorated walkways, buildings and rooms. Outside where people picked up their dogs there was a table of brand new collars which were donated so that people could leave with one for their new pets. There were also some props for people to use to take a quick picture with their dog they adopted before they left to commemorate their new happy beginning together. As people left they could also buy some sweet treats at the bake sale table where people donated delicious baked goods for the shelter.

By the end of the day there was a total of 62 adoptions. To be exact there were 20 dogs, 29 cats, 3 rabbits, and 10 other animals who found their forever homes! The event was filled with smiles, some special memories and changed lives. Although the event is over now, OC Animal Care can’t wait to see more people at future events.

News ImageApril 25, 2018  2 Shelter Dogs Adopted During the WAND BBQ Event! On Saturday April 21st OC Animal Care was at the 22nd Annual West Anaheim Neighborhood Development Western BBQ at Maxwell Park. From 10 am to 2pm community members could participate in a number of activities from games, competitions, demonstrations, local vendors and interact with animals through pony rides and visiting potbellied pigs.

OC Animal Care was in attendance with four volunteers, and four dogs: Julia, Anita, Claudeen and Lilly. Julia and Anita both found their fur-ever homes at the event! Julia went home with an Anaheim Chief Advisory Board Member for the Anaheim Police Department and Anita went home with an Anaheim Fire and Rescue Community Engagement Officer. Not only were OC Animal Care staff and volunteers excited to see dogs go home, but they were also excited to see a friendly face. One of the potbellied pigs that was at the event was an OC Animal Care alumni! Sir Archibald was adopted in April 2017 and has been living his best life with his forever mom ever since.
