County Hosts Budget
Workshops for the Public
WHAT: County of Orange officials will
hold two public workshops to provide information about
the County's budget process.
"Budget This two-hour session introduces participants
to the basics of budgeting. Basics" Topics covered
include setting policy direction, the proposal/approval
process, the CEO's role, definition of terms, the budget
workbook, sources of funding (state, federal, etc.) and
a general overview of the proposed budget for Fiscal Year
1996-97.
When: Tuesday, August 6, 7-9 p.m.
Where: Orange County Library Headquarters - Multipurpose
Room 1501 East St. Andrew Place, Santa Ana
"The Budget: Beyond Basics"
This session includes informational presentations from
six agencies/departments about their budgets. Breakout
sessions will follow the general session and will provide
an opportunity for the public to receive more detailed
information and ask specific questions. Each session will
be offered three times.
The schedule for presentations is as follows:
Overview 1 - 1:30 p.m.
Health Care Agency 1:30 - 1:40 p.m.
Community Services Agency 1:40 - 1:50 p.m.
Social Services Agency 1:50 - 2 p.m.
Break 2 - 2:15 p.m.
District Attorney 2:15 - 2:25 p.m.
Probation 2:25 - 2:35 p.m.
Sheriff 2:35 - 2:45 p.m.
The 50-minute breakout sessions will run from
3 - 6 p.m.. Departments and agencies will each staff a
classroom where they will provide additional information
and handouts.
The following agencies/departments will be represented
in breakout rooms:

Community Services Agency
Social Services Agency
Court & Court Support including
District Attorney and Sheriff-Coroner
General Government including Assessor, Auditor-Controller,
Board Offices, Clerk of the Board, Clerk-Recorder,
County Counsel, County Executive Office, Data
Systems, Environmental Management Agency,
General Services Agency and Treasurer-Tax
Collector
When: Wednesday, August 7, 1 - 6 p.m.
Where: Century High School - 1401 S. Grand Ave., Santa
Ana

Breakouts sessions held in designated classrooms
WHY: The County wants to provide the public with information
about where the County's funding comes from and how spending
decisions are made. Residents will then have the understanding
and tools needed to help them participate in the budget
process.
