County and City of
Santa Ana Kick Off Student Government Day
(Santa Ana)
For the second consecutive year, the County of Orange
will participate in the City of Santa Anas 15th
annual Student Government Day. The two agencies will give
local high school and junior college students a close-up
look at the business of government.
On April 29, students will shadow County and City employees
matching 133 students with representatives from County
and City offices, agencies and departments. Students will
be paired with officials including staff from the offices
of Supervisor Charles Smith, Supervisor Todd Spitzer and
Supervisor Cynthia Coad.
Smith, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, and Santa
Ana City Manager Dave Ream will kick off the activities
at 8:45 a.m. in the Santa Ana City Council Chambers at
22 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana.
In addition to shadowing government officials, students
will tour facilities such as the Ronald Reagan Federal
Building and the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner crime lab.
They will also attend presentations by the Sheriffs
Bomb Squad, the K-9 division and the Santa Ana Fire Department.
Students will conclude their day at Hometown Buffet Restaurant
in Santa Ana for lunch and an awards presentation.
