Students Visit County
Offices For Student Government Day
(Santa Ana)
Approximately 125 Santa Ana students will shadow officials
from City and County government on Wednesday to get a
first-hand look at the business of government. Its
the third year that the County of Orange has joined the
City of Santa Ana in giving students close-up experiences
in a variety of County and City agencies.
Students will sign up to spend the day in areas including
Board of Supervisors offices, Public Defender, County
Counsel, John Wayne Airport, Assessor, Probation, Public
Facilities and Resources, Registrar of Voters, Social
Services Agency, and in the County Executive Office in
Human Resources, Real Estate and Risk Management.
In addition to the shadowing experiences, students may
take part in tours and demonstrations that include the
Countys data center, Santa Anas Police Department
and the Ronald Reagan Federal Building. The following
are three special events.

Sheriffs Department Crime Lab 10 a.m. 320 N. Flower,
Santa Ana
SAPD K-9 Demonstration 11:15 a.m. Santa Ana Bowl
602 N. Flower
Second District Supervisor Jim Silva, County Executive
Officer Jan Mittermeier and Santa Ana City Manager Dave
Ream will welcome students at the 8:30 a.m. kickoff at
Santa Ana City Hall.
The students day will conclude at a luncheon with
their hosts at Hometown Buffet Restaurant, 1008 East 17th
Street, Santa Ana. Fifth District Supervisor Tom Wilson
will speak at the lunch.
