Chuck Smith Invites
Seniors to Town Hall
(Santa Ana) - Senior
citizens from Fountain Valley and the First Supervisorial
District are invited by Chuck V. Smith, Chairman of the
Board of Supervisors, to a Town Hall meeting on Thursday
to discuss senior issues. The forum will be from 8:30
- 11:30 a.m. at the Fountain Valley Community Center,
10200 Slater Avenue in Fountain Valley.
"Last October I hosted a countywide summit on aging
that was attended by nearly 700 people, said Smith. "At
that meeting we were able to identify the five most important
issues to Orange County's senior population. This is our
second area meeting for First District residents. It's
important for me to hear from the people, to provide information
to them and to utilize their input in planning senior
services for the county."
The five top senior concerns are: affordable housing,
transportation, public safety, long-term health care and
non-traditional medicine.
After a welcome by Fountain Valley Mayor Guy Carrozzo,
a panel of speakers will be available to respond to audience
questions. Agencies that will be represented include Orange
County Housing and Community Development, Health Care
Agency, University of California/ Irvine, Sheriff-Coroner's
Department, Orange County Transportation Authority, Social
Services Agency, Area Agency on Aging and Cal OPTIMA.
There is no charge to attend the forum, but seating is
limited to 200 and participants are encouraged to arrive
early.
Translators will be available for Spanish and Vietnamese..
A similar senior town hall was held in Santa Ana on February
10.
