Midway City Celebrates
Street Festival
(Santa Ana)
Midway Citys community center will be the site of
Saturdays (July 15) Summer Festival as well as the
recipient of the days fundraising efforts. The day
of food, fun, games and information is co-sponsored by
the Midway City Community Organization, Midway City Chamber
of Commerce and Homeowners Association, the gang prevention/youth
development project of Community Services Programs, Inc.
(CSP), and the County of Orange.
Festival hours will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the community
center, 14900 Park Lane in Midway City. Entertainment
and displays will spill into the centers parking
lot so no parking will be allowed that day. Admission
is free and refreshments are low-cost.
Children will enjoy a rock climber ride, bouncehouse and
slide, and face painting. Music will be provided throughout
the day by local bands with performances by dance groups.
Displays will include a fire truck, Sheriff Department
cruiser, Probation Department drug dog, and martial arts
demonstrations. The Countys festival booths will
provide information about services from such departments
as Health Care Agency, Social Services Agency, Probation,
Housing and Community Development, Area Agency on Aging,
the Planning Departments code enforcement section,
OC Conservation Corps, and the Westminster Police Department.
Festival-goers will receive give-aways at the information
booths and can register for opportunity drawings for sports
equipment and passes to such places as Disneyland, Magic
Mountain and Wild Rivers.
Refreshments were donated by Coca-Cola, La Casa Garcia
of Anaheim and CSP.
"This is the second event weve co-sponsored
in this unincorporated area," said Chuck V. Smith,
Chairman of the Board of Supervisors. "Our goal is
to enhance services to this area and encourage a sense
of pride and community. And on this occasion to
have a lot of fun."
Proceeds from the festival will benefit the community
center which sponsors programs for both the younger and
older residents of Midway City. There are after-school
and summer programs for young people as well as a hot
meal program, recreation and language classes for older
adults.
