M*A*S*H's "Major
Houlihan" Scheduled To Appear at Unveiling of New
Pet Adoption Web Site
(Santa Ana) Loretta
Swit, known for her classic role of Major Houlihan on
television's much loved M*A*S*H*, is scheduled to join
the Orange County Board of Supervisors and the public
for an unveiling of a new, user-friendly pet adoption
web site. The site was developed by the Health Care Agency's
Animal Care Services to help people search online for
a new family pet.
The public is invited to attend the web launch event on
June 21, 10:30 a.m. until noon, in the first floor lobby
and Board hearing room of the Hall of Administration,
10 Civic Center Plaza, Santa Ana.
The Emmy award-winning actress has appeared in theater,
film and television. Having been recognized by the American
Humane Society, she is well known for her compassion for
animals. Swit is active in numerous animal causes and
is a board member of Actors and Others for Animals.
" We are very excited to present this valuable new
communication tool to the public in our efforts to increase
animal adoptions," said Supervisor Todd Spitzer.
"Finding more homes for animals is one of our goals
in the ongoing effort and commitment to improve services
at the Animal Care Center.
"In addition to the extensive pet care, licensing
and pet retrieval information already provided by the
Animal Care Services' web site, this newest attraction
on the site will encourage visitors to view animals that
are ready to be adopted by a good family," Health
Care Agency Director, Michael Schumacher said. "This
new site will feature one of the largest pet databases
in California. It will have photos of available, adoptable
animals and information on their breed, age, sex and color.
We hope it will be well used by the public."
Some adoptable animals from the Animal Care Services Center
will be on the plaza just outside the Hall of Administration,
along with Officers from the Center who will be available
to answer questions regarding pet adoptions.
