Redistricting
Package Available to Residents
(Santa Ana, CA) - Orange
County residents have the opportunity to submit plans
to the Board of Supervisors on how the County should be
divided into Supervisorial districts for the next 10 years.
Redistricting packages containing all necessary information
and forms are now available.
To make a proposal, request a re-districting package for
sale at the Center for Demographic Research at California
State University, Fullerton, 2600 East Nutwood, Suite
750, College Park Building, Fullerton (714.278.4670 /
www.fullerton.edu/cdr). The cost is $5 on computer disc
and $15 in paper format. Included in a package is:
a database of the total population
a list of County census tracts and current Supervisorial
districts
a list of cities and unincorporated communities
three County maps
California Election Code Sections
all required forms for submitting a redistricting
Packets are available to download for no charge from the
County's web site. To download a package or obtain information
on Redistricting Committee meetings, go to www.oc.ca.gov
and click on the "Board of Supervisors" link.

All proposals must be received by May 18 at the Center
for Demographic Research CSUF, 2600 East Nutwood, Suite
750, College Park Building, Fullerton, CA 92634-6850.
After evaluating public proposals, the County Redistricting
Committee will present a redistricting plan to the Board
of Supervisors. The Board will hold a public hearing on
July 17 to consider the proposed plan. The Board of Supervisors
will hold another public hearing to adopt a redistricting
ordinance on August 21. The public has 30 days to challenge
the ordinance after its adoption.
