Supervisors Take Oath of Office on Monday
(Santa Ana)- Recently
re-elected Supervisors Jim Silva and Tom Wilson along
with first-time Supervisor Chris Norby will take their
oaths of office at 2 p.m., Jan. 6 on the steps of the
Old County Courthouse, 211 West Santa Ana Blvd. in Santa
Ana. A reception on the second and third floors of the
Courthouse will immediately follow the ceremony.
Silva, entering his third term, will receive the oath
of office from former Huntington Beach Mayor Wes Bannister.
Silva represents the Second District.
Fifth District Supervisor Wilson, who was appointed to
the Board of Supervisors in 1996 by Governor Pete Wilson
and elected to the office in 1998, will be sworn in for
his second full term by Sheriff Mike Carona.
Norby will represent the Fourth District after having
served as a Fullerton City Councilman since 1984. He will
be sworn in by retired Downey Court Judge Leon Emerson.
The Pledge of Allegiance will be led by Capt. Chad Silva,
USAF, son of Supervisor Silva. The invocation will be
delivered by Terrence Sherry, pastor of the First Presbyterian
Church of Fullerton. Monsignor Paul M. Martin of the Old
Mission San Juan Capistrano will give the benediction.
Emcee for the program will be U.S. District Court Judge
David O. Carter. Welcome remarks will come from First
District Supervisor Charles V. Smith. County employee
Joyce Harrell will sing God Bless America.
