CEO Appoints Permanent Registrar of Voters
(Santa Ana, CA) - Steven
Rodermund, Interim Registrar since January,
has been appointed by County Executive
Officer James Ruth to the permanent position
of Registrar of Voters. The appointment
is effective December 22.
Rodermund joined the County in 1997 as
a budget analyst in the County Executive
Office. He coordinated budget preparation
for all public protection programs and
community/social services departments.
He was later assigned temporarily in a
management support position in the Registrar
of Voters’ Office. In September
2001, Rodermund became the Chief Deputy
Registrar and, upon the retirement of
former Registrar Rosalyn Lever, he was
appointed Interim Registrar.
Rodermund was a budget section supervisor
for the Orange County Transportation Authority
for four years after having served as
an Army officer from 1988 – 1992.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in
business from Park College, Missouri and
a masters in business administration from
Boston University. Rodermund also graduated
from the Army’s Command and General
Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
“Steve has done an exemplary job
of working through the many difficult
issues surrounding this fall’s recall
election,” said Ruth. “We
successfully stood that test and now he’s
providing leadership in rolling out the
new, electronic voting system. He had
a lead role in the selection process for
the new equipment. I have confidence that
Steve, in this new position, will continue
to move the Registrar’s Office toward
greater efficiencies and community outreach.”
