There are eight (11) staff employed by the Orange County IHSS Public Authority. Seven (7) Registry/Training Specialists assist IHSS Consumers locate a Provider as well as recruit, orientate, and train Providers.
All Providers wanting to be placed on our Registry goes through an Application process. The Application process starts with the attendance to the Provider Orientation; completion of the job application with two (2) professional references (one employment must have been for more than six months), one (1) personal reference; and a face to face interview with the Registry Training Specialist (RTS); and a Department of Justice Background Check. As IHSS Consumers call in to request a Provider list, the RTS will check the Registry database for Providers who possess the skills Consumers need within a geographic area. Then, a list of available Providers is mailed to the IHSS Consumer to call and interview for the position. The sole responsibility in hiring the Provider will remain with the IHSS Consumer.
