Provider Orientation
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE IHSS PROVIDER ENROLLMENT PROCESS:

There are new enrollment requirements for IHSS providers that came into effect on November 1, 2009. In order to continue to be paid as an IHSS Provider after June 30, 2010, you must complete an IHSS Program Provider Orientation.

FOR AN EXISTING IHSS PROVIDER WITH AN IHSS RECIPIENT:

If you were already working as an IHSS Provider and assisting an IHSS Recipient (also known as an IHSS Consumer or client) prior to November 1, 2009, you will receive an orientation letter from the County of Orange Social Services Agency In-Home Supportive Services Program between now and May 2010. This letter contains instructions on what you need to do to complete the enrollment process by June 30, 2010. If you do not complete the enrollment requirements, you will not be paid after June 30, 2010. Please wait until you receive a letter from The County of Orange Social Services Agency In-Home Supportive Services program and do not schedule an orientation with the IHSS Public Authority.

IHSS Provider Orientation Video:

For existing IHSS Providers with an existing IHSS Recipient, you may view the IHSS Provider Orientation video prior to attending Provider Orientation.

FOR A BRAND NEW IHSS PROVIDER FOR AN IHSS RECIPIENT:

This means you have never worked as an IHSS Provider nor received a timesheet before. You must complete the enrollment process before you will receive your first timesheet. You will receive pay dating back to your first day of work.

New laws require that the new IHSS Provider complete the following:
  1. The IHSS Provider must be designated by the IHSS Recipient to be the Provider using the Provider Designation Form,
  2. The IHSS Provider must complete a new Provider Enrollment Form,
  3. The IHSS Provider must attend an IHSS Provider Orientation,
  4. The IHSS Provider must have his/her social security number verified by the Social Security Administration as belonging to him/her, and
  5. The IHSS Provider must pay for Live Scan fingerprinting for a criminal background check and be cleared by the State of California Department of Justice.
To request for an IHSS Provider Enrollment Packet and schedule an Orientation, please have your IHSS Recipient call 714-825-3174.

FOR AN EXISTING IHSS PROVIDER WITH A NEW IHSS RECIPIENT:

This means you have previously been an IHSS Provider but are now working for a new IHSS Recipient. To request an IHSS Provider Enrollment packet, please have your IHSS Recipient call 714-825-3174.
