The Orange County IHSS Public Authority Registry is comprised of a database of names of home care Providers who are available to work and perform tasks so IHSS Consumers can remain safe and independent in their own home. Providers may perform a variety of tasks authorized by IHSS. IHSS authorized tasks include domestic work such as, light housecleaning, laundry, shopping and cooking; personal care duties such as bathing, dressing, toileting; accompanying to doctor appointments, errands, and paramedical care.
An IHSS Consumer referral is made to the Orange County IHSS Public Authority by the IHSS Social Workers. After the Registry Training Specialist (RTS) completes the Consumer Intake, the RTS searches the Registry database for a list of names of available Providers based on each person's individual needs. The list of available Providers is then mailed to the Consumer and it is the Consumer's responsibility to interview and hire the Provider who best meets his/her needs. THE CONSUMER IS THE EMPLOYER AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL HIRING AND FIRING DECISIONS.
Effective July 1, 2009, the hourly wage for Providers is $9.30. Providers may be eligible for health benefits by working an average of 80 hours or more per month. All Providers pay dues or fees to United Domestic Workers of America.
You can make a real difference in someone’s life and earn money at the same time by joining the Orange County IHSS Public Authority Provider Registry as an IHSS Provider.
