Board of Supervisors
Board Functions
The Board of Supervisors, as authorized under California law, functions as both legislative and executive body. In its legislative duties the Board adopts ordinances, resolutions and rules within the limits prescribed by State law.
As an executive body, the Board:
  • Oversees the activities of County agencies and departments
  • Establishes policy
  • Determines annual budget allocations
  • Approves contracts for public improvement projects and other specialized services
  • Conducts public hearings on matters such as zoning appeals and planning
  • Makes an appointment to various boards and commissions.
  • Legislative and executive activities of the Board are performed at public meetings. Certain personnel and legal matters are discussed in closed sessions.
 
2008 ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Supervisor John M.W. Moorlach was elected Chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors January 8th, 2008 and Supervisor Pat Bates was elected as Vice Chair of the Board.
 
 
BOARD AGENDAS

Agendas are usually available the Wednesday morning before regular Tuesday meetings.
Supplemental agendas with additional items are usually available late Friday afternoon.
