Get Help

CalFresh

The CalFresh Program is a federal nutrition program that helps eligible, low-income, people purchase the food they need for good health. 

You may apply for CalFresh benefits:

  • Online at BenefitsCal.com. To learn more about BenefitsCal, including new features and capabilities, click here.
  • By phone at 1-800-281-9799 / TTY 714-834-8500. Our Call Center is open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • By mail – mail in your CalFresh application to:

  • At your local CalFresh Regional Office from 8.am. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday

Your CalFresh application only needs to have your name, address, and signature to begin the application process.

CalWORKS

The California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) program provides cash benefits for the care of children in need when one or both parents are absent, disabled, deceased or unemployed.

You can apply for CalWORKs by phone (800-281-9799; TTY: 714-834-8500), in person at select Social Services Agency office locations, or online at BenefitsCal.com

General ReliefGeneral Relief (GR) is a County-funded program that provides temporary cash aid to eligible indigent adult lawful residents who are ineligible for Federal or State programs.

Medi-Cal

Medi-Cal is California’s Medicaid public health insurance program.  Medi-Cal provides free or low-cost medical services for children and adults with limited income (and limited resources for some Medi-Cal programs).

OC NavigatorOC Navigator seeks to help people find and connect with the supportive resources they need in different areas of their life including health, wellbeing and other supportive services.

Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA)Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) administers federally funded programs to provide rental assistance to qualified tenants in privately owned rental housing. The largest such program is referred to as the Housing Choice Voucher Program. Participants who receive a Housing Voucher can use this rental assistance in a variety of rental dwellings and locations with almost any property owner who is willing to participate in the program.
Shelter Programs

The County of Orange provides several shelter programs to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness. These programs are operated through partnerships with nonprofit organizations and are strategically located across the county to serve different regions.
